For years we have not discharged water anymore into the ditch. As we work with plant protection products, which must not reach the vegetable plants, we have discharged water with useful fertilizers and pesticides through the sewer. But a part of these products could end up in the environment and we were not happy with that.
Fortunately there was the OptiClear Diamond plant! It removes 99% of pesticides from the water. Due to an inverted Nano Filter built on the plant, the water may even be reused. Therefore we do not discharge into the sewer. However, until we are 100% sure that the system works well, we will continue for the time being to discharge our clean water into the sewer.
The plant is also used to kill viruses, bacteria and fungi. Previously, these were purified from the water by heating - in which it needed no less than one cubic meter of gas. With the OptiClear Diamond plant we use per cubic meter disinfected water only a small amount of electricity.
With this new plant, we comply with the latest laws and regulations for the use of certain pesticides. The plant is operational for several months at the main location in Made. At the second location in Made, which is currently being built, the second OptiClear Diamond plant is directly installed. Our location in ‘s-Gravenzande will follow early next year. All in all, we are working progressively to protect the environment as much as possible in the production of vegetables and ornamental plants.
